There are many things that technically changed within film history. The cameras became more advanced and sound was able to be recorded along with the video. Although so much has change I think one of the biggest changes has been the use of color within film. Of course in the era of black and white film setting tone though color was not an option. Once color film was made films such as the wizard of oz were made with very vibrant colors. It was thought that the bolder the color the more intriguing the film will be. Soon directors would learn to use colors as other advantages beside grabbing initial attention. Movies such as schindler’s list showed the power behind color and lack of. This film is in black and white except for one girl’s red jacket. This movie is one of the most iconic films and stands out because of the unique use of color Spielberg decided on. Another important skill directors occasionally use is combining new and old techniques. Directors such as Quentin Tarantino will use old film instead of digital but still have modern camera angles and multi-camera shoots. This use can give the movie an older feeling but still be interesting to the adapted audiences that watch today. There are many different cameras and lenses and other equipment around now a days that it feels like anyone can make a good film. But the main thing people do not understand is that there is more to filmmaking than knowing how to use a camera. You have to know how to use color and costume and setting and camera angles to tell your story in a unique and interesting way.
