Jurassic world is having a sequel and has just come out with the official trailer, which is what is discussed in this article. The trailer highlights exciting action scenes and shows off the CHI used. However many are excited by the new movie, there is a lot that has to change from the first Jurassic world. Things such as sexism, product placement, plot, and character development were all an issue in the first movie although there is room for redemption in this new film.
In Jurassic world two kids are sent to the island that holds a zoo like place for dinosaurs. They meet with their aunt who becomes a major character as she is the one responsible for the kids. Although she is in charge of both the children and the park she is pretty much useless throughout the entire film. She gets one scene where she “saves the day” by releasing and leading the T-Rex to the other dinosaur they need to defeat. She gets this one final scene but that does not make up for her being told what to do by Chris Pratt’s character and being useless the rest of the movie. Hopefully this second film can have stronger female characters that are useful for more than being just a pretty face. This is an issue that is seen in a lot of Hollywood film but most at least know how to properly do product placement.
Throughout all big Hollywood movies there is bound to be product placement to get endorsements for films. This should be done subtly but in Jurassic world it feels as thought you are watching a car and headphone commercial in the middle of the film. It is distracting, confusing, and annoying. But this is not nearly as annoying as the overall plot. The most important concept of the Jurassic park movies is that it is about the theory of chaos. It is not about the dinosaurs. Jurassic world does the complete opposite and shows the dinosaurs more than anything else. It tries to pay tribute to the Spielberg films but completely disgraced it by trying too hard to show off its CGI. The other problem, and possibly the largest, is character development. To be completely honest those kids could have died and I would not have cared. No one seems important in the film and they do not make me feel emotional or in suspense. Knowing these issues about the first movie hopefully this second film will do better although I think the box office will be high no matter what.
